Lower Moreland High School Named 29th Best In PA: U.S. News

LOWER MORELAND, PA — Lower Moreland High School remains among the top schools in the state, according to the latest rankings from U.S. News and World Report.

The school ranked 29th overall in Pennsylvania and fifth in Montgomery County. Harriton was 10th, Lower Merion 14th, Wissahickon 16th, and Upper Dublin 27th.

The outlet also placed Lower Moreland 1,019th in the country.

"Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams," U.S. News said in their report on Lower Moreland. "The AP participation rate at Lower Moreland is 62 percent. The total minority enrollment is 28 percent, and 18 percent of students are economically disadvantaged."

Philadelphia's Julia R. Masterman Secondary School led Pennsylvania, while Arizona's Basis Peoria school was first in the nation.

The top high schools have students who score exceptionally high on math, reading and science assessments, as well strong performance among under-served students. High school graduation rates and college readiness among graduates are also measured.
