Police In Lower Moreland Searching For Group Of Juveniles Who Attacked Student

The reported assault occurred on Feb. 2 on Red Lion Road across from Valley Center Park. The victim sustained a minor injury.

LOWER MORELAND, PA β€” Police in Lower Moreland Township are continuing to search for a group of young people who attacked an individual near the high school last week.

Officers responded to a reported assault back on Feb. 2 on Red Lion Road across from Valley Center Park when a juvenile said he was walking after school at around 4:30 in the afternoon when he was assaulted by a group of people who were also believed to be juveniles.

Patch first reported on the incident on Tuesday. It was initially reported that a racial epithet may have been used during the attack on the victim.

The victim reportedly sustained a minor injury during the attack.

Police remain tight-lipped on specifics, saying that they cannot release too many details about the incident in order to "preserve the integrity of the investigation."

"This is an ongoing investigation and the Lower Moreland Police Department is seeking the public's assistance to identify those involved in this incident," Police Chief David Scirrotto wrote in a news release. "We want to reassure the community that this is currently the only incident of this nature. LMPD will be ensuring extra patrol in the area. We encourage everyone to immediately call 911 if they observe a crime or if they believe they are the victim of one. LMPD is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all members of our Community."
