Lower Moreland Police Chief David Scirrotto posted a message online about McQueen's passing. That message is posted below in its entirety:

"The Lower Moreland Police Department would like to offer its sincere condolences to the Family of Commissioner Clay McQueen. Clay passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. We want to recognize the lifetime of service and leadership that Clay provided through his volunteer efforts with the Bryn Athyn Fire Company and as a member of the Lower Moreland Township Board of Commissioners. I am personally honored to have called him a friend, as we worked together to establish the finest Police Services and passionate Community Policing Organization for the citizens of Lower Moreland. Clay was a man who cared deeply for both the LM and BA Communities and in my opinion embodied that special bond and relationship, that our two communities share. I will do everything in my ability to ensure that sense of community continues and flourishes in his honor. All of the members of the Lower Moreland Police Department will keep Clay and his Family in our thoughts and prayers."
