Police Log: More Heroin Found, Forced Entry and DUI
The following incidents were reported by the Lower Moreland Police Department.

December 12 β Narcotics Possession, morphine, heroin
- Area of Philmont Ave. & Anne St.
Police responded to a 3-car accident and it was discovered that Francis Goodfriend, 62, of Philadelphia, had caused rear-end, chain reaction type collision. While speaking with Goodfriend, officers noticed he was under the influence of some controlled substance since his eyes were pin-point pupils, his voice was mumbled and had difficulty staying awake at times.

After failing field sobriety tests, Goodfriend was patted down. LMPD found prescription pills, four small zip-lock bags containing blue wax paper and a tan powdery substance (believed to be heroin). The blue wax paper displayed the word, βACEβ and a playing card.

- Arnoldβs Towing, 3875 Heaton Rd.
The owner of Arnoldβs Towing, Kenneth Efkowitz, 45, called LMPD to report two rear tires of a trailer had been stolen over the weekend. The tires are valued at $120 apiece. There was no security footage available and Efkowitz notified the owner of the trailer.
December 10 β DUI
- Area of Byberry Rd. & Reading Way
Christopher Braun, 34, of Horsham was arrested for DUI after crashing his white Mercury Grand Marquis into a sign and post near the Valley Christian Academy on Byberry Rd. Both passenger tires were flat and the rims to both tires were also damaged. Braun registeredΒ .147% BAC.
December 9 β Burglary β Forced Entry
- 2000 block of Waller Drive
Maciej Teresiak, 40, of Huntingdon Valley, had to be restrained with a taser gun after running from police after a forced-entry burglary. Teresiak and his dog, a brown Doberman pinscher, were seen exiting the rear fence of a neighborβs yard when a witness, William Merz, 62, of Huntingdon Valley, saw him.
Merz asked Teresiak what he was doing. Teresiak responded to Merz, βYou took the kids,β βyou kill peopleβ and βyou sell drugs.β Merz, who has never seen this man before, then walked to his neighborβs house, Terese Decamara, 69, of Huntingdon Valley, and Teresiak began to follow him up the front door.
Teresiak then shouldered his way through the door damaging the wood frame and safety latch. Teresiak removed five framed photographs from an end table and then walked out the door.
Police arrived on scene at 12:42 p.m. after Teresiak was already out of the home. Police tried to grab him by his sweatshirt but he twisted and slipped away from them and began running towards Welsh Rd. with his dog. An Abington police officer finally apprehended him in Abington on Robinhood Rd. after being tased.
Due to his medical state, an application for a 302 commitment was completed and faxed to Montgomery County Emergency Services. He was later picked up by MCES at 5:45 p.m.
December 8 β DUI
- 3500 block of Heaton Rd.
Police responded to a car accident in the area of Byberry and Orchard roads at 12:48 a.m. The driver of the lone car, Tracy McKenna, 36, of Willow Grove, lost control of her car and struck a large evergreen tree while her two daughters were in the vehicle. All three people complained of injuries and the side passenger door was severely crumpled in.
McKenna had a strong odor of alcohol on her and told the cop she had just come from a concert where she drank four glasses of wine. A preliminary breath test revealed a .07% blood alcohol content. McKenna and her daughters were transferred to Abington Memorial Hospital to treat their injuries.
