Whiz Kids: Huntingdon Valley Hurricanes

The Huntingdon Valley Hurricanes captured the title at the Inter-County Basketball Association tournament last weekend.

The tournament, which is one of the biggest in Pennsylvania, is for boys ages 8-14 and girls ages 9-13. There were over 200 teams in all and the 5th graders from (7 of the 8 players attend the Elementary school) were the last ones standing when it was all said and done in their age group.

In the 10-year-old A Division, HV took down Pennsbury and Rydal on its way to the title game. In the championship game, Huntingdon Valley was led to a 34-27 win over Central Bucks Athletic Association.

King of the Court is in its third year and brings area teams together in a competitive atmosphere. Games were played at Red Lion Gym, Southampton Youth Center, Parkwood, Klinger Middle School, Deep Run, Upper Moreland Middle School and SMG Complex.
