5th Annual “On Your Marc” 5K Race in Lower Providence Honors Fallen Heroes
Annual race honors a fallen Special Forces medic and helps children with communicative disorders

This year Lower Providence marks the fifth anniversary of its “On Your Marc” 5K event on August 3, where, this year, participants can run or walk in memory of a hero who has passed away, such as a fireman, servicewoman, or first responder.
The run will begin and end at the Lower Providence Fire Company in Eagleville.
If a participant is looking for inspiration, the names of fallen heroes will be displayed on the numbers that the participants will wear during the race.

Lower Providence Township residents Mary and Megan MacFarland created “On Your Marc” after their relative, Marc Small, a Special Forces Medic with the U.S. Army, was killed in action while he served in Afghanistan in 2009.
The race was created to keep Marc’s memory alive, as well as to help those he cared about and volunteered to help. The race benefits “Small Steps in Speech,” a foundation Marc’s fiancée Amanda Charney created to help children with communicative disorders.
