This Saturday Lower Providence will mark its fifth annual ‘On Your Marc’ 5K event, which had its inception to honor fallen soldier Marc Small, and now this year will honor all fallen heroes, be they a serviceman or a policewoman.
The race will begin at 8:30am on Saturday at the Lower Providence Fire Company in Eagleville and end there, as well. Race participants can run and walk in honor of Small, who was an army special forces staff sergeant and medic, as well as other fallen heroes, some of whose identities will be on display.
Lower Providence Township residents Mary and Megan MacFarland founded ‘On Your Marc’ after Marc Small, their son and brother, respectively, was killed in action while he served in Afghanistan in 2009.

They created the 5K to keep his memory alive, as well as to help those he cared about and volunteered to help. The race proceeds benefit ‘Small Steps in Speech,’ which is a foundation Small’s fiancée Amanda Charney created to help children who have communicative disorders.
Those who want to participate can sign up at pre-registration today, Friday, from 5-7pm, and on the race day, Saturday, from 7:30-8:15am at the race site. Click here for further information.
