Abandoned Regal Cinemas In Oaks To Reopen As Independent Theater

The theater has been purchased by the owners of the local Arnold's Family Fun Center and aims to open as soon as possible.

OAKS, PA — Movies are coming back to Oaks. The shuttered Regal Cinemas in Oaks has been purchased by the owners of Arnold's Family Fun Center and will reopen as an independent theater, according to the company that owns Arnold's, Valley Forge Promotions.

The 24-screen Regal, which stood for more than two decades as one of the area's largest theaters just across the lot from Arnold's, announced its closure back in January.

The new "Oaks Center" says it hopes to be up and running by mid to late July. The theater added that the theater will focus on both new releases and "specialized genres."

The theater will also include a restaurant, with officials saying they aimed to bring "a whole new meaning to concessions at the theater." It's not clear if the theater will serve food and drinks similar to the Movie Tavern, or if they will employ a different arrangement.

The theater will also include an arcade and facilities for live music events.
