After Ursinus Student's Death, Collegeville Gets $75K To Improve Pedestrian Safety
Collegeville is getting a significant sum of money to make the area more walkable and safer for pedestrians, including Ursinus students.
Collegeville, PA - Collegeville has received $75,000 from Montgomery County to help improve pedestrian safety and walkability in the area.
The first round of Montco 2040 Grant Awards distributed funds to seven projects around the county, including Upper Moreland, Lower Moreland, Hatfield, Upper Salford, Abington, Collegeville, and Douglas.
In Collegeville, 6th Avenue will undergo an extensive pedestrian safety project.

Ursinus student Michelle Buck was killed crossing at 6th and Main in December.
These grant awards account for $706,440 out of the available $1 million program balance for 2016, the county said.

The online application period began on April 1, 2016, and the county said they received 15 applications, totaling over $1.6 million in requests, from municipalities during this first round.
The awards were announced on June 16. Townships whose applications were rejected will be considered in the next round.
