ARA Baseball, Softball Leagues Nearing Sign-Up Deadline

Local youth sports league will accept registrations through Feb. 28.

Deadlines are approaching for the spring seasons of the Audubon Recreation Association (ARA) baseball and softball seasons. Registration ends on Feb. 28. Any players registering after deadline will be charged a $20 fee.

Both the boys' baseball and girls' softball leagues are in association with the Babe Ruth League. The boys' baseball teams follow Cal Ripken rules.

According to the ARA website, the league operates in age-appropriate divisions. Boys' teams are formed from Tee-ball, or those of age 5, to instructional leagues (age 6 on coach-pitch, age 7 pitching machine). At age 8 boys are considered "Rookies" and 9-year-olds are "Minors." Age 10 and 11 play in the American League and age 12 plays in National.
