Car Fire Reported in Aldi Parking Lot

The West Norriton Police and Jefferson Fire Co. reported to the scene.

It didn't last long, but emergency units were called to Trooper and Egypt roads for the report of a car fire at 5:30 p.m. Monday evening.

According to the Computer-Aided Dispatch System operated by the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, both fire and police units were dispatched to the scene of the Aldi's parking lot, located in West Norriton Township.

Police found a single occupant of a grey, Hyundai Sonata in the lot, to the left of the supermarket. The man, according to eye witnesses, had been repeatedly revving the engine of the four-door sedan, causing it to smoke under the hood.

According to the tags visible on the vehicle, the automobile had recently been transfered into the man's name. New tags were displayed on the car.

Both West Norriton's Jefferson Fire Co., Station 46, and the West Norriton Police Department responded to the fire. By 5:42 p.m., the units were leaving the scene. The driver, a middle-aged man, was awaiting a tow truck to assist with his car. The smoke and any flames that may have emerged, were out by the time of the fire crew's arrival.
