Collegeville Gets $250,000 For 'Bum's Hollow' Perkiomen Trail Link
The major investment will help add a key link to the Perkiomen Trail.
COLLEGEVILLE, PA — The proposed "Bum's Hollow" trail connection to the Perkiomen Trail has received a massive grant from the county to help make it a reality.
The $250,000 award is part of the Montco 2040 Implementation Grants, which provided a total of $2.5 million to 13 projects that meet the county's stated goals.
Bum's Hollow is an unimproved road easement dedicated to the borough at the end of Clamer Avenue. This project would connect the middle of the 400 block of Main Street to the Perkiomen Trail, along the easement.

"This will help fulfill an important component of the borough’s revitalization strategy, which is to have a connection to the Perkiomen Trail," the county said in a summary of the work.

Specifically, projects were evaluated for their "impact, equity, readiness, and consistency" with local and county planners. Projects that improved walkability or bikeability in the region were also given added consideration.
A total of 140 grants worth $17.8 million have been awarded since the program was originally launched.
