Eggs, Bunnies, Ice Cream and More to Celebrate Easter at Zwahlen's
Hollow eggs, peanut butter eggs, chocolate bunnies, bunny apples and so much more are coming out of the chocolatier kitchens at Zwahlen's in Audubon.
Zwahlen's is the chocolate spot this Easter, with a "much broader selection," according to Wendy Christie, the merchandising and marketing coordinator at the family owned chocolate shop in Audubon.
The candy shop is making small and large hollow chocolate eggs that can be filled with truffles, chocolates or candies. The hollow eggs can be pre-ordered and personalized with a name on them, or picked up from the Easter display in the store that are decorated festively for the holiday. Personalized eggs can be ordered this week until they run out, said Christie. Orders can be taken over the phone or in store.
Chocolatiers are also busy making coconut, peanut butter, buttercream and marshmallow eggs. Christie told Patch that all the fillings are made in house and all the eggs come in large and small sizes. The buttercream also comes in regular vanilla buttercream and its lesser known cousin, chocolate buttercream. Christie said the peanut butter eggs, in the large size, are some of their most popular sellers during the Easter season.

Zwahlen's is also making their own marshmallow for marshmallow eggs. The marshmallow is then flavored with vanilla, coconut or mint and then dipped in chocolate and decorated. Christie said the marshmallow eggs are very fresh, made only the week before and the week of Easter.
They also carry solid chocolate bunnies and eggs, and fun items for children, including chocolate dipped Peeps, Peeps on a pretzel, decorated crispy rice treats and more.

Another special item they have for the Easter season include their bunny apples, dipped in white or milk chocolate and decorated with Vienna fingers for their ears.
They also will have two special ice cream flavors this week, serving Bunny Tracks this Wednesday and Thursday, March 27 and 28, which is vanilla ice cream with chocolate covered peanut paws and marshmallow "fur" and on Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30, the very popular coconut flavor will be on tap.
