Once an appointment is obtained, the student and his or her parent(s) or guardian(s) should attend the assigned elementary school at the designated time slot. During the registration visit, students will be assessed by the staff of the school, while parents fill out required forms.

Reddish said the program, entitled JumpStart, is deisgned to acclimate those students that need the extra time to the new school and structure.

"They will get used to school routines, taking direction, letters, numbers," she said.
