King of Prussia Named Great 'Unknown' Place to Retire by USA Today

King of Prussia comes in third in USA Today's great 'unknown' places to retire.

When you think of common places people go to retire, Florida and Arizona usually come to mind, but thanks to placing third in USA Today's "Five Great (Unknown) Places to Retire," you can now add King of Prussia to that list.

"King of Prussia is one of the most centralized places to live," said Ron Clarke, CEO of Century 21 Alliance, in an interview with USA Today. "You can get to the shore or the mountains in two hours. It has easy access to shopping, with two of largest malls in the state. In the Delaware Valley there is a tremendous amount of 55-and-older age-restricted housing. That's attracted people from outside the area."

Falling only behind Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Saint Augustine, Florida, King of Prussia is praised for accessibility to Philadelphia's five teaching hospitals, and with Pennsylvania boasting the fourth-highest population over 65-year-old, it's seemingly a natural fit.

"It is a friendly state, and the only state where all the lottery proceeds go to benefit seniors," Clarke said.

Rounding out the bottom of the top five were College Station, Texas, and Branson, Missouri.
