Meyers said he bought the business from Szpindor back in 2011. Before that, he worked for Szpindor for about 20 years.
"Stan was a pillar in the community, involved in a lot of things," Meyers said.
Meyers said Szpindor was a very dedicated funeral director who would do everything around the business, from cutting grass and performing routine maintenance on the property to meeting with families of the deceased during their periods of mourning.
"He was just a great guy," Meyers said. "A big jokester. I have nothing but good things to say about him."
Meyers said Szpindor knew "everybody in the community," and that whenever the two worked a funeral together, it was apparent that Szpindor was able to connect with folks on a real human level.
Szpindor, who died from natural causes, had moved to Montgomery County when he was younger, and ended up raising his family in the Lower Providence area.
Eventually after he sold the business and entered into retirement, Szpindor relocated to Souderton, Meyers said.
In addition to his wife, Ann, Szpindor is survived by his children, Stan and Matthew. He was predeceased by his two daughters, Michelle Szpindor and Tanya (Allen) LaValley, according to his obituary.
He is also survived by his stepchildren, Karen Capaldi, Andrea Ricciardi and Ian Hall.
