Lower Providence Ambulance Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony For New Building

Lower Providence Ambulance held a groundbreaking ceremony on the site of their new building that was three years in the making.

Lower Providence Ambulance celebrated their forthcoming Ridge Pike building with a groundbreaking ceremony on their future building site on Wednesday, according to The Times Herald.

The future building is the product three years in the making, and will be located on Ridge Pike, by Park Lane. David Eckman, Chief of Lower Providence Ambulance, said that this project was one of his primary goals since starting as chief more than a decade ago.

“When I became chief I had three major goals. The first was to provide 24-hour coverage, the second was the equipment you see behind me with the updated technology and this is the third,” said Eckman.

The building is scheduled to be completed in six months, for $1 million. After completion of the new building, the original building will be sold.

Lower Providence Township Supervisor Colleen Eckman came, and stood in for Pennsylvania state representative Warren Kampf, who was in the state capitol, as well as her fellow township supervisors.

State representative Mike Vereb attended the ceremony, as well. “I think it’s very telling of the Lower Providence Township has the first ambulance that I know of in the commonwealth to expand. You guys were on the brink over the past few years, but the community pulled together to get this done,” Vereb said.
