Lower Providence Library’s ‘Boot Scootin’ Book-y’ Event Aims to Be Line-Dancing, Barbecued Fun

Library fundraiser to treat guests to country western fun.

The Lower Providence Community Library will hold its very first ‘Boot Scootin’ Book-y’ event on Friday evening, where guests will be treated to line-dance lessons, country-western music, barbecue, beer, and soft drinks.

Library director Lynn Burkholder wrote in an email to Patch that “western gear is optional but welcome, those who do not want to dance are invited to relax, listen to the music, and enjoy the evening with friends,”

The event will run from seven to 10 in the evening at the library in Lower Providence.  The barbecue is from Phamous Phil’s BBQ & Grille in Collegeville, according to the library.

While there is excitement over the event, it is also a reminder that decreased funding has led the Library Board of Trustees to plan the event to help meet the library’s financial need.  “Severe cuts in state funding since 2009, other decreasing revenue streams, and increasing costs have made it necessary to generate more income in order to meet our expenses this year,” wrote Burkholder in her email.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and can be purchased in the library.  For more information or to reserve advance tickets, call (610) 666-6640.  All proceeds from ‘Boot Scootin’ Book-y’ will benefit the library.
