Lower Providence Resident Announces Congressional Run in 2022
Republican Christian Nascimento is running for the 4th Congressional District seat currently held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean.

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — A local man is hoping to unseat U.S. Congresswoman Madeleine Dean in the November 2022 election, saying that what is needed in Washington is someone who will stand up for individuals, and not extreme partisan interests.
Christian Nascimento, an Audubon resident who has served as the chairman of the Lower Providence Republican Committee, recently announced his run for the 4th Congressional District.
On his campaign website, Nascimento — a first generation American, lifelong Pennsylvania resident, and member of the local GOP — said he’s concerned about the future of the nation, saying Congress is in need of someone who will support policies that will protect families and preserved shared American values.

In the video, he speaks about the “radicals in Washington” restructuring the U.S. economy, which is shutting down small businesses and dramatically driving up inflation.
Nascimento also speaks about how “leftist policies are politicizing our schools and making our streets far less safe for families,” and how elected officials need to unite behind policies that will help get the country back on track and move communities forward.
Nascimento also touches on reining in massive spending, supporting the law enforcement community to ensure they have the resources needed to keep streets safe, and the need to elect people to government who will represent individuals and not “extreme partisan agendas.”
“We have so much to be proud of,” Nascimento says in his campaign video. “With your help, I believe with all my heart that our best days are still ahead of us.”
Nascimento has served on the boards of various nonprofit and for-profit businesses, and he was elected to two terms on the Methacton School Board beginning back in 2009, according to a bio on his website. He also previously served as the Methacton School Board president.
He is a graduate of Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in the Colonial School District and he has degrees from Villanova and Widener Universities.
Dean, a Democrat currently representing the 4th Congressional District, is an Abington Township native who has been serving in congress for the past six-plus years.
On her U.S. House of Representatives website, Dean’s bio says she remains focused on “decency and the common good,” and issues she lists as being passionate about include stopping gun violence and healthcare for all.
“In Congress, Madeleine remains focused on decency and the common good,” her bio on the website reads. “In Madeleine’s view, building a more compassionate society means making smart, humane policy choices. It also means working to ensure that government functions smoothly and delivers the services constituents need.”
On Nascimento’s website, the candidate lists his priory issues as better education, better opportunities and better security.
The general congressional election is scheduled to take place on Nov. 8, 2022.
