Republicans And Democrats Neck-In-Neck As Of Thurs. In Lower Providence Supervisor Race

The numbers were extremely close in the race for Lower Providence Township Board of Supervisors. Voters are choosing two candidates.

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — The township Board of Supervisors election is very close as of Thursday morning, with the current figures offered by county election officials showing the candidates are neck-in-neck.

As of an election returns report put out by Montgomery County late Wednesday night, the race appears to be extremely tight, with just a handful of votes in some instances separating the candidates.

The latest numbers put incumbent Republican Supervisor Peter MacFarland with 3,554 votes, and fellow Republican incumbent Colleen Eckman at 3,543 votes, while the two Democratic challengers, Janine Darby and Tom Boward, had 3,536 and 3,357 votes respectively.

Those latest figures put incumbent Eckman and challenger Boward less than 10 votes apart.

Truer numbers won't be known until after county election officials finish counting mail-in ballots that are still outstanding. There was no word as of Thursday on when that count would be complete.

Voters were to choose two candidates in this race. Lower Providence has a board of five supervisors.
