LP Golf Course Attack Blamed on Racial Slur: Sen. Williams
State Sen Anthony Williams said his cousin, also his aide, got into a brawl with a LP golf pro shop employee because racial slur was used.
LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — A state senator is blaming an incident involving his office aide on a racial slur allegedly used during an altercation at the golf pro shop at the Shannondell Golf Course in Audubon late last year.
State Sen. Anthony Williams, who represents the 8th District in parts of Philadelphia and Delaware Counties, told 6 ABC Action News that his aide, Jonathan Williams, who is also his cousin, was actually the victim of a racial slur used against him by a golf course employee.
That employee, Hunter Wagner of Audubon, is suing Jonathan Williams in state court over the November 2020 incident, saying he was the true victim, and that golf pro shop surveillance video proved it.

Jonathan Williams was seen on video obtained by Action News punching Wagner as Wagner tries to bear hug him as a means at self defense.
In his lawsuit, Wagner says he suffered both physical and mental injuries due to the incident, and he is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
Jonathan Williams was subsequently arrested by Lower Providence police. He is facing and assault and other charges.
In its most recent report, Action News stated that Sen. Williams relayed that his cousin and aide told him that Wagner had actually used a racial slur toward the group and that Wagner is acting like the victim when he was anything but.
"Of course I'm talking because I don't want people playing the victim when they're not the victim (and) they're the bully," Sen. Williams was quoted as saying by Action News.
Action News said that Lower Providence police, however, stated they had no record in their investigatory file of a racial slur ever being used during the incident.
The senator has not been charged in any wrongdoing. More on his comments to Action News can be found here.
