LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — A reported threat that was referenced on social media had nothing to do with any schools in the Methacton School District, the superintendent said Wednesday, clearing up any confusion about any potential local danger.

Superintendent David Zerbe said that the district had been notified on Wednesday morning about a social media post that was being shared among some Arcola Middle School students that raised concerns about a potential threat against an unnamed school.

The district's threat assessment team received the information and reported it to local law enforcement, who ultimately determined that the post was referring to an unidentified school in the state of Georgia, and not a school in the Methacton School District, according to Zerbe, who made the announcement to the community via letter posted on the district website.

"Law enforcement determined that there is no credible threat against any of our schools," Zerbe wrote Wednesday, noting that students and staff were safe and the school day had proceeded as normal.

Zerbe wrote that the district was able to resolve the matter because a parent reported "something that caused them concern.
