LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — The Methacton School District is asking community members to weigh in on the district’s future as the strategic planning process unfolds.

A call for participation is currently underway, and those interested in providing feedback on the strategic plan are asked to sign up to become a part of focus group discussions. Sign-up is now available and will close on Sept. 16.

The district is seeking input from various stakeholders in the community, including parents, grandparents, business owners, and civic and community leaders.

“Our goals to increase constituent favorable feedback and increase District ranking are at the forefront of this process,” the district states in an informational sheet about the process found on the district’s website. “How each student, parent, staff member and community member feels about what we do and how we do it is critical to realizing our potential.”

The district website contains an entire section devoted to the strategic planning process, comprised of focus area descriptions, a call for stakeholder participation, information about the strategic planning process itself, and proposed visions for the new strategic plan.

Those interested in being key stakeholders are being asked to choose, during their participation sign-up, their top three focus groups with which they would agree to serve. The district says this will allow the administrative team to review selections and organize sub-groups considering preference, group size and other factors. The sub-group determination notifications are expected to be sent out by Sept. 30 and will be posted to the strategic planning section of the school district website.

According to a timeline on the website, a full virtual group meeting, or kickoff event, is expected to take place on Oct. 21, while independent sub-committee work is expected to take place over about a one-month timeframe from Oct. 22 through Nov. 24.

Another full group virtual meeting is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2022, while the finished strategic plan is expected to be presented to the school board on Feb. 22, 2022.
