Montco Woman, Methacton Grad, Wins Broad Street Run

Methacton High School graduate Crystal Burnick turned in a dominating performance at one of the region's most competitive road races.

Burnick, of Skippack, is an employee at Phoenixville's All Kinds of Fast Running store on Bridge Street and is currently an assistant track coach at Ursinus College.

She was named the Mid-Atlantic Female Athlete of the Year for 2015 by USA Track and Field.

It's the first time Burnick won the race, after compiling a stretch of top 10 finishes over the last several years, including placing 9th in 2015, 4th in 2014, 8th in 2013, and 6th in 2012.

It's also the first time in recent years that a woman from Pennsylvania won the event.

The race follows a point to point route straight through the heart of Philadelphia, following Broad Street from North Philadelphia at Somerville Avenue all the way to the Navy Yard. It is one of the largest and most competitive road races in the country each year. There were 34,421 finishers on Sunday.
