Multi-School Panel Discussion ON Student Social & Emotional Well-Being Next Week

Participating school districts will include Methacton, North Penn, Perkiomen Valley, Souderton and Upper Moreland.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A virtual panel discussion of student social and emotional well-being during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic is scheduled to take place next week, with a handful of school districts from Montgomery County expected to participate.

The program, which will take place on Dec. 14 at 9:30 a.m. on the virtual Zoom platform, is designed to address the challenges students are facing because of the ongoing global pandemic.

Participating school districts are Methacton, Upper Moreland, North Penn, Souderton and Perkiomen Valley.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on youth mental health and the effects of student social-emotional well-being will likely be a concern for years to come," reads a description of the program, which was shared by the Special Education Alliance of Methacton. "Strategies and skills that can be implemented in school to help students and develop their social-emotional well-being will be discussed."

Panelists who are expected to participate are Souderton School District Director of Pupil Services Megan Zweiback; Upper Moreland School District Supervisor of Special Education Valerie Adair; Methacton School District Director of Pupil Services Susan Angstadt; Perkiomen Valley School District Director of Special Education Kim Boyd; and North Penn School District Supervisor of Special Education Jamie Rivera.

The presenters will share programs and trainings currently being offered to help address the social and emotional well-being of students and staff at the different school districts.

The program is being put on by the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit.
