National Weather Service Issues a Wind Advisory

Norristown area is included in a wind advisory warning of high winds.

Hold onto your hats, sports fans. Non-sports fans should probably hold on too today. The wind has really picked up ahead of a wet snow and rain storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the area, predicting winds to be 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50. The advisory is in place until midnight Wednesday night.

"Strong winds could bring down tree limbs and power lines and cause power outages," warned the NWS advisory. "Any wet snow accumulations tonight wil exacerbate the outages.

Those in Montgomery County are expected to only see trace ammounts up to two inches of snow, according to NWS forecasts. Still, it is good to heed the warning.

"Motorists should use extra caution, especially those in high profile vehicles traveling on bridges and other elevated surfaces," said the NWS site. "Light-weight, outdoor objects such as patio furniture and garbage cands should be secured."
