PHOTOS: Woodland's Second Graders Visit Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy
Classrooms take the educational lessons outdoors.
Woodland Elementary School's  three second-grade classrooms didn't let the weather deter them from learning some excellent outdoor lessons on Tuesday. A bit of misty rain and cooler fall temperatures couldn’t stop the students, teachers and chaperones from learning all about both field and stream habitats.
Educational experts at the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy spent the day teaching students about producers, consumers and decomposers in a field’s ecology, and about macro invertebrates and the habitats of streams in Pennsylvania. Â
The students were able to hunt for evidence of field consumers after their lesson, and turn over creek rocks in search for macro invertebrates in the Perkiomen’s water.
