Storm's Impacts Lead To Emergency Closure Of Germantown Pike Next Week

The road will be shut down for hours during the day next week as crews address the damage left behind.

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — The destructive storms this week will lead to a closure of the bridge over Germantown Pike next week for what authorities are calling "emergency cleanup" work.

The bridge, which carries traffic over Skippack Creek, will be shut down in Lower Providence from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9.

A large amount of debris has collected on the upstream side of the bridge in the wake of hte recent storm.

Traffic will be detoured during the work and there will be no through traffic.

Minor flooding of Skippack Creek, Perkiomen Creek, and the Schuylkill River impacted roads and communities around the region.

Two people were killed by downed trees during the storm, including one in Collegeville.
