Stretch Of Route 29 To Be Shut Down In Collegeville

Construction is set to begin this week, leading to delays in the area.

COLLEGEVILLE, PA β€” A main artery in the Collegeville area will be shut down for around two weeks as construction gets underway, causing delays.

A portion of Route 29, or First Avenue, will be closed in both directions from the Perkiomen Bridge Hotel up to the area of Transfleet Concrete, PennDOT said.

The work, which includes a water main extension, retaining wall, sidewalk construction, and more is set to run from Oct. 30 through Nov. 14.

The stretch of road paralleling the Perkiomen Creek is highly trafficked by both commuters and residents.

"While this will be a slight inconvenience for our traveling public now, it will be a drastic improvement when it is done in two weeks," the Collegeville Police Department said in a statement. "Please obey all road closure signs and follow all detour signs to navigate around the area."
