Suspected Rabid Raccoon Reported In Collegeville
Residents are reminded to keep an eye on their pets, and to watch out for animals displaying unusual behavior.

COLLEGEVILLE, PA β A raccoon displaying many of the telltale signs of rabies was put down after a dog alerted local residents to its presence Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred at around noon on the 500 block Barrington Road. The resident dog - whom family says is known for being hyperalert to anything suspicious nearby - began barking insistently.
Outside the family member found the raccoon approaching close to the back of the house, apparently unaware or unbothered by the barking dog or the close presence of a human. It was behaving oddly, staggering and walking in small circles, all of which is consistent with rabid behavior.
