Township Publication Earns State Award
Annual report recognized by Pennsylvania's 45th annual Citizens' Communication Contest.

Lower Providence Township’s efforts to keep its residents updated and informed have earned the municipality a first place award in a statewide communication contest.
The Township received first place in the annual report category for its 2011 Annual Report in the 45th annual Citizen Communication Contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS). This marks the second year in a row that the Township’s annual report was awarded first place.

The contestjudges entries in eight categories, including printed and electronic newsletters, annual reports, other publications, cable TV programming, social media, and websites.  All entries were judged on the usefulness of information presented and how well the information was communicated to readers.
Publications also were judged on their overall attractiveness and readability. Judges for the contest include members of PSATS’ Publications Public Relations Committee, representatives from the Governor’s Center for Local Government Services, and staff members of the Pennsylvania Township News, the association’s monthly magazine.

PSATS represents the state’s 1,454 townships of the second class.  These townships represent more residents – 5.5 million – than any other type of political subdivision in the Commonwealth.
