Update: Fire Damages Audubon Home

Extent of damage and origin of location of the fire has been determined.

According to a press release, an investigation of a house fire on Sky Drive in the Audubon section of Lower Providence Township has determined that the blaze started in or near an alarm sensor for the front door. 

At 11:26 p.m. on Aug. 1, police received a report from a neighbor that the front door of a house in the 3100 block of Sky Drive was on fire.

Fire companies from Lower Providence, Collegeville and Worcester responded and found the door and front façade of the home on fire.  The fire had extended downward to the basement.

The home sustained moderate fire and water damage and substantial smoke damage.  The homeowners were away at the time.

An investigation by Lower Providence Township Police and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau determine that the origin of the fire was in or around the front door alarm sensor.

A cause has not been determined.
