$5M Bail For Bucks Co. Man Accused Of Attempting To Kill Wife

LOWER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —A Feasterville-Trevose man is being held on $5 million bail for trying to kill his wife by beating her with a wooden rod, police said.

Dean J. Decker Jr., 34, faces attempted homicide and related charges for allegedly beating his wife with his hands, fists, feet, and a wooden dowel rod with such force that the blows caused life-threatening injuries, the Lower Southampton Township Police Department said.

A preliminary hearing was held on Wednesday. He is being held at Bucks County Prison.

Lower Southampton Police responded on Jan. 29 to investigate an "advanced life support medical incident" involving trauma.

An investigation determined that the injuries were the result of domestic violence.

The woman was taken to Saint Mary Medical Center for evaluation and care of her serious injuries and then immediately transferred to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia for life-saving care.

Decker is being charged with criminal attempted homicide, kidnapping, strangulation, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, felony domestic assault, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, and possessing instruments of crime.
