Lower Southampton Township Library reopens July 13

The Lower Southampton Township Library will reopen to the public on July 13th with some restrictions and safety guidelines.

(Feast Erville)

Bucks County moving to the Green Phase keeps the Township Library of Lower Southampton moving forward with its re-opening timeline.

The next step is opening our doors to the public. The target date is July 13, but that depends on having all safety measures in place and the conditions in the county & state. But remember: going green does not mean, “anything goes”.

· All library users / all Pennsylvanians are mandated by the PA Department of Health / Governor to wear face coverings. (Facemasks have proved to be the best way to contain the spread of COVID-19 and protect your family, friends and neighbors.)

· Everyone is required to observe social distancing – staying 6 feet away from staff and each other.

· All library material is quarantined for 72 hours when returned and we sanitize all common touch areas hourly.

What Will Change When We Open to the Public?

· Open hours will increase: Monday – Thursday 10 -7, Friday closed, and Saturday 9 -1.

· Under state guidelines, we are limited to 75% capacity.

· Face coverings and social distancing are required.

· Information Desk will be available help to get books and items from the shelves (no browsing yet – sorry), to help place holds, place holds for books outside the county, reader’s advisory, and answering your reference questions

· Computers will be available by reservation only. To keep social distancing we removed some computers and limited use to one hour per day. We can’t help at the computers like we used to because we want to keep up social distancing. We will do the best we can.

I know people are anxious to come in, to browse, to sit and read a paper and our small, measured steps ensure everyone’s safety and health. For those not comfortable coming into the building, we still have curbside pick-up hours, virtual programs and plenty of e-resources for you to discover, explore and enjoy. COVID-19 is not over so it is important we act together with patience and commonsense.
