Old Tawanka windows auctioned for charity
Windows from the old Tawanka Elementary School building are being auctioned to benefit the Neshaminy Education Foundation

When the old Tawanka Elementary School on Brownsville Road was built in 1964, the architect infused Native American themes and designs throughout the building. The most famous was a large mural that graced the front of the building for 50 years until the school was demolished for a new building in 2015. Students and neighbors will likely also recall the yellow fiberglass windows found in each classroom and the library. On nights when the school was in use or as the custodians did their work, the designs on these translucent windows could be seen from the street.
A number of panels from these windows were rescued prior to demolition and are now being auctioned to the public as a fundraiser for the non-profit Neshaminy Education Foundation. The first batch was auctioned in September and sold out quickly. The current auction will be live until Sunday, December 19. Winners must pick up their window panels at Maple Point Middle School in Middletown Township OR at the new Tawanka Elementary School building in Langhorne during normal business hours.
