James D. Morrissey, Inc. began prep work and repairs on Thursday, with plans to finish that work on Friday. AMS will begin the oil and chip process a week later.
Officials said the process will leave loose stone chips on the roadway. After 48 hours, AMS will determine when their sweeper will remove the remaining stone chips.

The final fog seal coating will be applied about 21 days later after the oil and chip has cured, officials said.
It is essential that the stone chips are left loose for a specified period to allow vehicle traffic to compact them into the asphalt emulsion. This process helps cure the new surface, ensuring a strong, long-lasting pavement seal.
