Share-A-Ride Program Launched For Bucks Commuters

TMA Bucks said the service will allow Bucks County residents to match up with others who want to carpool.

TREVOSE, PA —TMA Bucks has launched a Share-A-Ride website that can match Bucks County commuters who work in southeastern Pennsylvania with others who want to carpool or vanpool.

The free, computerized service is offered by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, which has partnered with TMA Bucks for the program. Click here to access the service.

The non-profit transportation management association said it hopes the service can be a resource where Bucks County businesses and their employees can discover sustainable travel options.

“By sharing a ride or telecommuting, commuters can save money and reduce the stress of getting to and from work or wherever they need to go,” TMA Bucks executive director Stephen Noll said. “This not only gives people more options for getting around but also helps ease congestion and keeps the air cleaner too by taking some vehicles off the road.”

The site also offers rewards to commuters who sign up and record their sustainable trips on the Share-A-Ride trip calendar. They can earn points that can be redeemed for gift card drawing entries, restaurant coupons, retailer discounts, and tickets to shows and attractions.

Users can set up recurring trips to automatically record a trip calendar.

The site also includes a trip planner to find rides for a daily commute, hybrid office, appointment, or even a special event. The trip planner will also show public transit, biking, and other options if available.

TMA Bucks promotes and coordinates travel demand management strategies to reduce peak-hour traffic congestion and serve as a clearinghouse for transportation policies and programs throughout Bucks County. It also manages the Bucks County Community Traffic Safety Program in partnership with the county and the TMA Bucks Foundation.
