12-year-old raises fund for cancer research (6abc Philadelphia)

MALVERN, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Summer days offer time for kids to play, create, and explore. And a 12-year-old from Chester County glanced at her free schedule and saw an opportunity to do a little good.

Rhea Sharma, a rising 8th-grade student, made a flyer to advertise summer fun to friends, family, and neighbors. For two hours a day, at four dollars per hour, kids could come to her house to play games and make crafts with her parents' supervision.
But she didn't want to put that money in her own pockets.
Sharma created a fundraiser page through the Cancer Research Institute and instructed parents to direct their payments there.
Her goal was to raise $500. And she has already accumulated more than $450 in just a few weeks of the program.

Watch the video above to see what lessons Sharma has taken away from this experience.
