Party Affiliation: Democrat

Family: My husband John and I have lived in Malvern for 13-plus years. Our son Alex is now five years old.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?: No.

Education: I have a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Swarthmore College.

Occupation: I have worked as a systems and software engineer for a federal government contractor for 13-plus years.

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office: I was appointed to fill a vacancy on Malvern Borough Council in May 2017, and elected to a regular four-year term for January 2018 to December 2021. The Council selected me to serve as President starting in January 2020.
I also served on the Malvern Planning Commission by appointment from August 2010 to December 2017, where I earned a Master Planning Certificate through the county.

Why are you seeking elective office?: I'm running for re-election to continue helping our community thrive as we rise up to meet future challenges. Good government starts here at home. A responsible, responsive local government can have a positive impact on our day-to-day lives – transportation, environment, policing, and so on.

The single most pressing issue facing Malvern Borough is: I believe it is critically important to support our business corridor as we, hopefully, begin to turn the corner on the COVID-19 pandemic. I want to consider regulation changes, new infrastructure, and creative ideas as part of the Urban Center Revitalization Plan we are currently developing.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?: During the past four years on Borough Council — and six years before that on the Planning Commission — I have become known for considering all sides, doing thorough research, and treating everyone with respect. I pride myself on always making fair, responsible, fact-based decisions.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform: I am strongly committed to fiscal responsibility. We will need to work hard to balance our priorities in the next few years as we face rising costs for existing services, new obligations such as major stormwater improvements, and desired quality-of-life enhancements.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?: This year, three seats on Borough Council are up for election, as well as the Mayor. I think it is very valuable to have a Council made up of people with a range of opinions, experiences, and strengths.
