West Chester, PA_ Chester County Emergency Management officials strongly recommend those that live in low lying and flood prone areas of Chester County should leave their homes prior to the impact of Hurricane Sandy. Residents are encouraged to stay with family or friends outside the affected area. If this is not an option, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, 2 emergency shelters will open on Sunday, October 28th at 7:00pm.

The emergency shelters will provide basic meals and cots for sleeping. Emergency Management officials recommend you bring the following items for you and each of your family members:
Snacks or comfort food Any special dietary foods Bedding, pillow, blanket, etc. Extra clothing Medications and medical supplies Personal Care items Diapers, infant and elderly/disabled necessities Time occupiers; books, magazines, games or cards

Don’t forget about your pets. The emergency shelters will be pet friendly with an area designated for pets away from other shelter visitors. Officials encourage that you bring the following items for your pet(s):
Any medications Medical and vaccination records Collar, Leash and/or Carrier Food
