Baker Industries Takes Bronze, $30K in National Fundraising Contest

The Malvern nonprofit raised $111,759 to place third in Huffington Post's JobRaising Challenge.

Malvern's Baker Industries will receive $30,000 for its third-place finish in the JobRaising Challenge, a national contest that pitted job-creating nonprofits against each other in a fundraising race.

The challenge was sponsored by Huffington Post in partnership with the Skoll Foundation, Crowdrise and "knowledge partner" McKinsey & Co. The participating organizations raised as much money in donations as possible between Jan. 21 and March 1.

JVS Los Angeles came in first, raising $254,100 and earning the $150,000 grand prize. JVS squeaked out its win over New York-based runner-up Venture for America, which raised $253,205 to take home a $50,000 second-place prize.
