Earth Day: Shusterman Hosts Shredding Event And Can Food Drive

The public is invited to celebrate Earth Day from 9 to 11:30 Saturday, April 22, at Penn State Great Valley.

MALVERN, PA —State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, a Chester County Democrat, invites the public to celebrate Earth Day at a free shredding event and canned food drive from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at Penn State Great Valley, 30 E. Swedesford Road, Malvern.

Residents of the 157th District are involved to dispose of up to three boxes/bags of unwanted documents ecologically and securely. There is no need to remove staples, paper clips, or rubber bands.

The district covers, Willistown, Tredyffrin, Easttown, and Schuylkill townships.

The Chester County Food Bank also will be on hand to accept much-needed canned food donations.

Lingering pandemic effects, reductions in SNAP benefits, and other factors have contributed to increased food insecurity, which has strained food bank supplies.

The Food Bank needs these items:

  • Canned proteins
  • Canned fruit
  • Peanut butter
  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal
  • Brown rice
