Two Years Later, Police Shooter Still at Large

The man who shot a police officer and fled into Willistown on Jan. 17, 2010, has yet to be captured.

When I visit the district courthouse in East Goshen, which is most Wednesdays, I see many familiar faces. There's the judge on the bench, the clerks behind the glass, the officers and lawyers milling about in the courtroom... and the guy who shot a Westtown-East Goshen police officer in the hand two years ago.

Of course, that last face is just a sketch hanging up next to the bulletin board, under the words "$30,000 REWARD." The unidentified man shot Cpl. Timothy Hubbard on Jan. 17, 2010, near East Strasburg Road in East Goshen, a stone's throw from the Willistown border.

Hubbard—who last year explained the in a Patch video—has been unable to return to active duty because of his injury. The shooter has yet to be captured.

Last week, in recognition of the two-year anniversary of the incident, the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department reminded the public of the details of the case (PDF attached to this article):

This vehicle, believed to be a dark colored 1990’s Honda Accord with a Delaware registration plate, was found parked and unattended at the intersection. When Corporal Hubbard turned into the Ashbridge Preserve parking lot, he encountered a white male and white female who were engaged in a verbal dispute in the far corner of the stone parking area. When Corporal Hubbard exited his marked police vehicle, the female immediately walked towards the parked car.

The male individual approached Corporal Hubbard, produced a small caliber handgun, and fired two shots. Corporal Hubbard was shot in the hand by one bullet, but still was able to return fire. As Corporal Hubbard retreated to his vehicle for cover, the male individual went to the Honda Accord, which was last seen driving eastbound on East Strasburg Road toward Willistown Township.

The white male suspect is described as being in his mid to late twenties, approximately 6’0”, husky build with short dark hair. At the time of the shooting, the suspect had no facial hair and was wearing a grey hooded pullover sweatshirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap. The female that was with the suspect was described as being in her early to mid twenties, with long brown hair, and wearing a light colored t-shirt.

If you have any information about the shooter, call Westtown-East Goshen Det. William Cahill at 610-701-9358, or Lt. Kevin Dykes of the Chester County Detectives at 610-344-6801.
