Wind Gusts Hit Over 50 MPH In Chester Co. Communities
See where the wind blew the hardest in Chester County Monday.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Powerful wind gusts over 50 miles an hour slammed many communities around the greater Philadelphia area on Monday, including several in Chester County.
The National Weather Service's analysis showed that wind gusts breached the 40 mile per hour mark in 13 places in the county:
- Kimberton 56 mph
- White Clay Creek West Grove 55 mph
- Coatesville 52 mph
- West Chester 48 mph
- Red Clay Creek Kennett Square 47 mph
- Pottstown 46 mph
- Marsh Creek 44 mph
- West Grove 43 mph
- Cochranville 43 mph
- Glenmoore 43 mph
- Oxford 42 mph
- Octoraro Creek Atglen 42 mph
- Atglen 40 mph
Gusts brought down both trees and electrical wires, knocking out power and making travel difficult for vehicles with high profiles like tractor trailers.

The highest local gusts were recorded in Doylestown, at 56 miles per hour, and nearby Kimberton, at 54 miles per hour.

Wind will continue throughout the day Tuesday before finally dying off on Thursday.
