Cub Scout Pack 98 Invites Girls To Join For Fall In Malvern Area

The Cub Scout Pack 98 Committee in Malvern recently decided to welcome girls to the group, in keeping with the national campaign.

MALVERN, PA — Cub Scout Pack 98 invites girls and boys to join in the Malvern area to join in September.

Cubmaster, Lauren Bixler said this week, "We are excited to announce that our local Cub Scout Pack 98 will be welcoming girls into our Pack starting this fall."

The Pack Committee voted unanimously at the beginning of the summer to make the change, after interest was shown, Bixler said. "We all agreed it was time to align with the national 'Scout Me In' campaign." Scout Me In was initiated in 2018 to welcome all youth into scouting.

Stephen Medlicott, National Marketing Group Director of Boy Scouts of America, said when the campaign was launched that "it speaks to girls and boys and tells them, 'This is for you. We want you to join!'"

Those who join Cub Scout Pack 98 will participate in projects focusing on the Cub Scouts' mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law, the Pack leader said. This includes the four aims of Scouting: citizenship, character, personal fitness, and leadership.

Girls who join will be a part of Pack 98 but will have their own dens to align with each grade level. However, the girls and boys for each grade level will work together to complete advancements and achieve the goals of each year, Bixler explained.

Any boy or girl interested in joining the pack is welcome to contact Cubmaster, Lauren Bixler, at lluchsin@gmail.com, or attend the Welcome and Sign-up Picnic on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at Boy Scout Troop Cabin 7 on the corner of Monument Avenue and Sugartown Road.

"Bring your family to sign up for another year of camping, hiking, campfires, the Pinewood Derby, and the upcoming rain gutter regatta," said Bixler.
