Malvern Boro Reminder: Local Tax Deadlines Are Not Extended
Malvern reminded its residents the IRS and PA extended tax deadlines do not apply to local Earned Income Tax deadlines, still at April 15.
MALVERN, PA — Malvern Borough officials warned that the federal and state tax filing extensions to beyond April 15 do not apply to the local Earn Income Tax, and that there will be penalties for those who file their local EIT late.
"While the Internal Revenue Service and the PA Department of Revenue have announced that tax filing deadlines for their 2020 final returns are extended to May 17, 2021, no such change has been made for the Local Earned Income Tax (EIT) filing deadline."
Malvern Borough's notice said EIT returns filed after April 15 this year "will be assessed statutory penalty, interest, and costs."

The borough’s EIT collector, Keystone Collections Group, will continue to monitor announcements from the Pennsylvania Governor's Office, from the State Legislature, and from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development regarding any potential change in the April 15 filing deadline, the borough said.
Unless there is a notification from at least one of these entities, the April 15 deadline cannot change, the borough stated. However, the borough said Keystone Collections Group, however, will waive late fees for final returns submitted after April 15 and through May 17, 2021.
