Malvern to Swear-In New Police Chief Next Week

Louis Marcelli, operating as the borough's acting police chief since 2013, will be sworn in at Tuesday's borough council meeting.

It’s been two years since Louis Marcelli took the role of acting police chief for Malvern Borough, and at Tuesday’s council meeting his title will become official.

On May 5, Marcelli will be sworn in by Mayor David Burton as as Malvern Borough’s police chief, effective May 1. Marcelli assumed the role March 6, 2013, to replace Mark Ercole, who returned to the East Whiteland Police Department.

“This was an agreement/contract between East Whiteland Township and Malvern Borough,” said Marcelli. “I was employed by East Whiteland Township, assigned here in Malvern as the Chief/Acting Chief. Today, is a bitter sweet day as I am no longer an East Whiteland Police officer, after 30 years. I am now officially the Chief of Malvern Borough.”
