Photos: Great-Horned Owl's Untimely End

A Malvern Patch reader snapped this photo of an unfortunate owl in Willistown.

An unlucky Great-Horned Owl alighted upon a set of utility wires at the intersection of Laurel Drive and Warren Avenue in Willistown, and was unable to fly away. A Malvern Patch reader spotted the bird Tuesday, at least a day after its apparent electrocution, and submitted the photo above, writing:

We were even more surprised to see it still hanging today after last nights 20mph winds.

Willistown Conservation Trust's resident bird expert Lisa Kiziuk confirmed it's a Great Horned Owl that likely died after touching two different wires. In notifying Peco of the bird's presence, Kiziuk requested to keep the specimen to be taxidermied or used for educational purposes.
