Potholes are developed when the precipitation freezes and seeps into the pavement and soil, causing the ground to expand and form a cavity, according to PennDOT.
Pressure from vehicles then cracks the surface, creating potholes.
When a motorist unexpectedly drives into a pothole, it could cause accidents, flat tires, and ruin alignment.
