Route 401 to Be Closed for Sewer Installation

This is the first of three phases of the sewer project, PennDOT said.

Route 401 in East Whiteland Township will be closed and detoured on weekdays for sewer installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said this week.

Route 401 will be closed between Swedesford Road and Lancaster Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays from Feb. 2 through March 13.

While work is being done, traffic will be detoured over Swedesford Road, Route 29 and Lancaster Avenue, PennDOT said.

Allow extra time if traveling through the area.

This is the first of three phases of the sewer project, PennDOT said. In the second phase, Swedesford Road will be closed between Route 401 and Birch Road. In the third phase, Route 401 will be closed between Swedesford Road and Deer Run Lane. The entire project should be completed in late May, PennDOT said.
